— Donald J.Trump announced Pierre Yared will step down as chair of the Council of Economic Advisers on a Truth Social post on June 30, 2026 at 5:10 PM EST.

Here is the full post (see truthsocial): “Since September, my Council of Economic Advisers has been led by the very highly respected Professor Pierre Yared, of Columbia University, as he and his team of “Brainiacs” at the CEA have worked around the clock to Make America WEALTHY Again — with Great Success! Unfortunately, Pierre is returning to Columbia Graduate School where he is greatly respected by all. I want to thank Pierre for his terrific service to our Country, and wish him and his wonderful family all of the best for a healthy and happy future. Pierre is a STAR, and I thank him for his service. THANK YOU PIERRE, AND GOOD LUCK! Donald J.Trump

Trump praised Yared and his team for working “around the clock” during his tenure atop the CEA, calling the Columbia University professor a “STAR.” The president said Yared is returning to Columbia Graduate School, where he holds a faculty position.

The Council of Economic Advisers is a three-member panel within the Executive Office of the President that advises the commander in chief on domestic and international economic policy. The body analyzes economic trends, prepares the annual Economic Report of the President, and helps shape fiscal and trade strategy.

Yared, an economist specializing in macroeconomics and public finance, had led the council since September. His departure creates a vacancy at the top of an advisory body central to Trump’s economic agenda, which the president has framed under the banner of making America “WEALTHY Again.”

Trump did not name a successor in the post. The next CEA chair will inherit an advisory role at a time when trade policy, tax reform, and government spending remain at the center of national debate.

In the last 30 days, 20 of 562 Trump posts on Truth Social focused on the topic of the economy, underscoring the frequency with which the president has addressed fiscal and trade matters on the platform.
