Trump seeks Supreme Court rehearing on birthright citizenship, claims billboard scam at border

WHITE HOUSE — Donald Trump announced he will seek an immediate rehearing by the United States Supreme Court on birthright citizenship, claiming billboards along the southern border advertise the practice as a paid service, on a Truth Social post on July 8, 2026 at 4:24 PM EST.

Here is the full post on [truthsocial]: “Signs and Billboards are being put up all over our Southern Border, and Mexico, advertising BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP, with “Deliveries starting at $4000.” Likewise, similar signs going up all over our Country. Billions of Dollars will be illegally made by this SCAM, with Citizenship going to anyone willing to pay. It will be, by far, the number one way of becoming a citizen, and then the entire family will be allowed to follow. Not sustainable. NOBODY SAW THIS COMING!!! AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP IS NOT FOR SALE! In fact, that is a crime, and therefore, the Supreme Court’s ruling is wrong. I will be asking for a Rehearing by the United States Supreme Court, IMMEDIATELY. Trump claimed that signs and billboards are appearing along the U.S.-Mexico border and throughout Mexico advertising birthright citizenship services with prices starting at $4,000. He characterized the practice as a scam that would generate billions of dollars illegally, with citizenship extended to anyone willing to pay. Trump said the process would become “by far, the number one way of becoming a citizen” and warned that entire families would follow through chain migration.

The president called the Supreme Court’s ruling on birthright citizenship wrong and declared that “American citizenship is not for sale.” He said the ruling amounts to a crime and labeled it “a miscarriage of justice” that would “destroy America” if the justices do not reverse course.
