Donald Trump shared a video on Truth Social, his social media platform, as his media company faces mounting scrutiny over a new paid service that sells early access to his posts.

Trump posted the clip on the account that anchors Trump Media & Technology Group C orp., the publicly traded parent of truthsocial in which Trump remains the largest shareholder. The post carried no policy statement or caption beyond the shared video.

Here is the full post on truthsocial: “truthsocial post containing one video.” on August 8, 2026 at 7:10 AM ET.

This is Trump’s 2nd message released today, and the last post was two minutes ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 49 of his 477 posts over the last 30 days classified as image-only posts.

The post landed one week after Trump Media & Technology Group C orp.rolled out a subscription-based data service called Truth API, which gives paying customers faster, real-time access to truthsocial posts from Trump and other high-profile accounts according to theguardian.com. Trading firms and other subscribers can now receive the posts earlier than ordinary users for a fee reaching $100,000 per month.

Interim Chief Executive Officer Kevin McGurn framed the product as a licensed feed of the platform’s most influential messages. “A direct, licensed, real-time feed of the platform’s most market-moving Truths,” McGurn said in a release announcing the launch according to theguardian.com.

The stakes fall unevenly across markets. Trading firms that pay the fee gain a timing edge on posts that can move stocks, oil and bond yields, while ordinary investors wait. Trump himself could benefit financially, because he owns the largest stake in the parent company and controls the platform’s biggest account, which held 13 million followers as of August 1 according to theguardian.com.

The launch drew immediate political fire. Democratic senators Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to examine whether the service breaks the law, in a letter sent to SEC Chair Paul Atkins according to theguardian.com. They called it an abuse of the office that undermines everyday investors and market integrity.

The financial backdrop is steep.Trump Media & Technology Group C orp.stock has fallen more than 70% since Trump took office last year, erasing roughly $6 billion in shareholder value according to theguardian.com. Shares climbed 5.5% to $10.39 one day before the debut of Truth API according to theguardian.com.

For the average reader, the concern is straightforward: a presidential post about tariffs or foreign conflict can shift the price of gasoline, retirement accounts and mortgage rates, and paying subscribers may act on that information first.

This has happened before. Trump has repeatedly used the platform to announce major policy before other channels, publishing more than 100 posts in a single day last year while global stock markets tumbled according to theguardian.com.

The next move rests with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which has not announced a date for any decision on the senators’ request.

Presidents mixing private business with public office isn’t the first time such conflicts have surfaced in Washington. Warren G. Harding’s administration in the 1920s produced the Teapot Dome scandal, when Interior Secretary Albert Fall secretly leased federal oil reserves to private companies for bribes. A jury convicted Fall in 1929, making him the first former Cabinet officer sent to prison, according to Encyclopedia Britannica. The affair stained Harding’s legacy long after his death in office.
