Knicks heads to Game 2 on Thursday after securing a win in Eastern Conference finals.

— For most of the night, the New York Knicks looked finished. The Cleveland Cavaliers had punched them early and built a massive 22-point lead, and showed their readiness to steal Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. This turned Madison Square Garden into a nervous, frustrated silence, and fans were heading for the exits. Commentators were already talking about what the Knicks needed to fix in Game 2.

Brunson exploded in the fourth quarter with the kind of performance that turned them into New York legends. For 40 minutes, the Knicks were going nowhere, trailing 93-71. With the pressure rising and the crowd suddenly roaring back to life, Brunson took complete control of the game. He scored a brilliant 17 points during the closing stretch of regulation and overtime, finishing with 38 points overall as New York won 115-104.

He edged out James Harden, the Cleveland star, and isolated him while he had the ball, exposing his tired legs and creating scoring opportunities late in the game. Landry Shamet had an unforgettable moment with his wild, bouncing three-pointer, which tied the game late in regulation and ignited the arena.

After the game, Brunson admitted he struggled to explain how the Knicks pulled it off. “I don’t have an answer for you,” Brunson said in a post-match interview.

And as the final buzzer echoed through Madison Square Garden, one thing became clear, this was more than just a comeback victory. The Knicks refused to break. “We got some stops, we kept fighting, kept believing. They were playing great basketball, and we just found a way,” Brunson said.

Jalen said in a live interview:

“It wasn't planned. I just read the game. My teammates trusted me and I tried to make the right plays, whether that was scoring or creating opportunities”

New York delivered a performance that will live in playoff history for years to come. The Knicks have won 8 straight games and will host Game 2 on Thursday.
