Donald Trump warned Americans about a rising threat from what he called “hardcore, godless communists” by mentioning the source (see thepostmillennial) on a Truth Social post on July 5, 2026 at 10:28 AM EST.

Trump made the remarks while speaking at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual Road to Majority Conference. He pointed to recent wins by socialist candidates in New York City’s Democratic primaries as evidence of the trend, saying, “as you saw with the communists elected in New York City recently, they’re communists, they’re not social Democrats, they want to completely destroy the traditional American way of life” (see thepostmillennial).

Trump argued that communism is “very easy to sell” because of the initial appeal of free goods and services but said it inevitably leads to collapse. “But you’ll start living in squalor. There will be no food, there’ll be no housing, there’ll be no military, there’ll be no law and order,” Trump said (see thepostmillennial). He described it as the “most serious threat to our country since its existence.”

The president also singled out New York City’s Rent Guidelines Board for freezing rents for two years, calling the move a confiscation of property. He referenced Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani, saying that buildings under such policies “will soon turn into ghettos and slums” and that residents would continue leaving the city (see thepostmillennial).

Trump urged attendees to expose communist candidates by explaining the long-term consequences of their promises. “When you say that, you can beat the free rent,” he said (see thepostmillennial). He closed by telling the audience that “communism really is the past, and freedom is the future” and called on supporters to vote in the midterm elections.

Speaking at the faith-oriented conference, Trump warned that “ruthless communists will attack all religions, but in particular, Christianity” (see thepostmillennial). He accused the Democratic Party of failing to fight back against the socialist wing out of fear of losing elections.

Trump also accused Democrats of lacking the courage to confront the movement. “If they fought them the way they fight Republicans or the way they fight me, they’d be victorious,” he said, adding that the party is “becoming a communist party” (see thepostmillennial).
