Trump Claims Census Bureau Found 24,000 Noncitizen Voters in 2020

Trump says a Census Bureau analysis links more than 24,000 noncitizen records to 2020 ballots and presses Congress to pass the SAVE America Act.

WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald Trump claimed the U.S. Census Bureau linked more than 24,000 noncitizen records to ballots cast in the 2020 general election, and he renewed his call for Congress to pass the SAVE America Act.

Trump said the bureau checked voter records against citizenship records for the first 128 million voters and would review another 32 million. He asserted the count would grow and repeated his claim that he won the election.

The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 171 of his 542 posts over the last 30 days classified as Elections posts.

Voter records are official state-maintained registration lists used to track eligible voters and administer elections under federal guidelines. In California, the centralized VoteCal system maintains voter registration information for all 58 counties and runs registration records against state agency databases to keep the rolls accurate according to sos.ca.gov. Citizenship records, compiled through naturalization and immigration processes, help verify eligibility to cast ballots.
