Eric Swalwell is a former Democratic congressman from California who was among the most significant targets of Chinese national Fang Fang, also known by her English name Christine Fang, according to justthenews. The FBI developed evidence that Fang had potentially compromised the congressman with sex, foreign interns and illicit donations while she was being recruited to become a bureau informant a decade ago, according to justthenews.
The files were declassified by Trump and released by the White House Government Transparency Task Force, according to justthenews. The bureau opened a predicated investigation but eventually narrowed the case to seek criminal charges only against Fang, and the Justice Department declined to prosecute her after she fled the U.S., according to justthenews.
