WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald Trump said he is sending $50.5 million to Texas for storm recovery while renewing his endorsement of Governor Greg Abbott, the state’s 48th governor.
Trump tied the disaster aid to a broad endorsement of the Republican ticket, naming Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Ken Paxton for U.S. Senate. He framed the announcement as personal support for state leaders facing storm damage from winds, tornadoes and flooding. He said he would return to Texas soon to campaign for the full slate of Republican candidates.
