Trump Posts Video on Truth Social as Lawsuit Targets Paid Post Access
Trump shares a video on his Truth Social platform, days after a lawsuit challenges a subscription service charging up to $100,000 a month for early access to his posts.
WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald Trump posted a video on Truth Social, deepening his reliance on the platform he owns as a legal fight erupts over paid access to those same posts.
Here is the full post on truthsocial: “truthsocial post containing one video.” on August 13, 2026 at 2:25 PM ET.
This is Trump’s 6th message released today, and the last post was 1 hour ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 56 of his 488 posts over the last 30 days classified as image-only posts.
The post landed one day after a lawsuit hit Trump over a subscription service charging up to $100,000 a month for early access to his truthsocial posts, according to theguardian. The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation filed the complaint in the US district court for the southern district of New York against Trump, two of his aides and the executive office of the president, according to theguardian.
The suit targets “Truth API”, a paid data feed that Trump Media & Technology Group C orp., the company behind truthsocial, launched on August 1. The service gives paying subscribers faster access than the general public to posts from 10 of the platform’s highest-profile accounts, including Trump’s own, according to theguardian. Subscribers pay $100,000 a month, or $60,000 a month for a three-year commitment. The complaint calls the arrangement “extraordinary, corrupt and unconstitutional”.
The stakes reach beyond the platform’s users. Trump remains Trump Media & Technology Group C orp.’s largest shareholder, with a stake worth roughly $1 billion, and stands to profit from selling privileged access to information generated in his official capacity, plaintiffs argue, according to theguardian. Trump Media’s interim chief executive, Kevin McGurn, has promoted the service as a way to give businesses fast access to the platform’s “most market-moving” posts, according to theguardian.
“He has described it as a “high-margin” product meant to provide a “meaningful, ongoing source of revenue”,” the report said of McGurn, according to theguardian.
Trump has used truthsocial to disclose market-sensitive news, including posts on tariffs and the war on Iran that triggered swings in stock and oil prices, according to theguardian. Democratic senators Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren urged the Securities and Exchange Commission to examine whether the service amounted to market manipulation, according to theguardian.
Americans who follow breaking policy news through free feeds could face a slower path to the president’s announcements if courts allow paid early access to stand. The plaintiffs are asking the court to declare the arrangement unlawful and to bar the administration from using truthsocial as the exclusive venue for official announcements while it sells preferential access, according to theguardian. A date for a court decision has not been announced.
Trump’s use of truthsocial to release official messages has drawn repeated scrutiny over market impact.Trump Media & Technology Group C orp.disclosed on August 10 that Truth API already had more than 10 subscribers, reportedly including financial news outlets and high-frequency trading firms, according to theguardian. The company was exploring licensing the data to prediction markets while working to block third-party tools that scrape and archive Trump’s posts, and Trump Media reported a $238 million loss, according to theguardian.
