Trump Shares a Video on Truth Social as Media Firm Faces Access Lawsuit
Trump posts a video on Truth Social, the platform owned by his media company now battling a press-group lawsuit over paid early access to his posts.
WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald Trump shared a video with his followers on Truth Social, the social platform owned by the media company in which he is the largest shareholder.
Here is the full post on truthsocial: “truthsocial post containing one video.” on August 14, 2026 at 12:05 PM ET.
This is Trump’s 6th message released today, and the last post was 11 minutes ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 55 of his 502 posts over the last 30 days classified as image-only posts.
The video landed as Trump Media & Technology Group C orp., the company that operates truthsocial, faces a lawsuit over its plan to sell early access to posts from the platform’s highest-ranking accounts. The tool, called Truth API, provides licensed, real-time access to those posts at prices ranging from $60,000 to $100,000 per month, according to reason. Subscribers receive administration posts on their devices in milliseconds, gaining an edge over regular users, according to reason.
The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation filed the suit, calling the monetization of government information “profoundly corrupt” and a violation of the First and Fifth Amendments, according to reason. The groups argue they have a right to access the president’s public comments on equal terms with the rest of the press and public, according to reason. A spokesman for Trump Media told CBS News that Truth API works no differently than subscription feeds from other platforms and news outlets, and described the suit as an attempt to “weaponize the courts,” according to reason.
The stakes reach the company’s balance sheet. Trump holds the largest stake in Trump Media through The Trump Revocable Trust, which owns 41.5 percent, according to reason. Trump Media has failed to turn a profit since its 2021 founding and reported a $238.1 million net loss in the second quarter of 2026, according to reason. Its stock has lost about 49 percent of its value over the past year, according to reason.
Seth Stern, chief of advocacy at the Freedom of the Press Foundation, said the venture is designed to “ultimately benefit the president and his business,” according to reason. He said the plan’s value rests on the fact that the president’s posts move markets, calling the arrangement “blatantly unconstitutional,” according to reason.
Each post from Trump carries weight for the media company he controls, whether it is a policy statement or a short video shared with millions of followers. The lawsuit places a legal question over how that reach is packaged and sold. A date for a court decision on the case has not been announced.
